The Essentials
I'm so glad you are here. My name is Julie Lavin and I'm the owner of Walk and Talk Michigan LLC. I've been a licensed therapist for over 10 year and have been mentoring or counseling young adults for 30+ years. I recently transitioned into coaching. I love it and am excited to walk alongside of you.
In my walk and talk coaching practice I help young adults with problems of living. We collaborate to make progress in areas of life that are important to you.
Take action on your stress, relationships, or life direction.
We think better on our feet -- literally, Come to your session in your sneakers or your favorite Birkenstocks.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Where do the walking sessions take place?
You and I will decide on a walking location prior to our session, but sessions are typically in the Rochester Park or Painted Creek Trail.
What are the benefits of walk and talk sessions?
Sessions that are side-by-side can be more comfortable than face to face
Green spaces decrease stress and anxiety
You are moving forward physically and mentally
Vitamin D from the sun boosts your mood
Solutions and creativity increases when you walk outside
Endorphins — your feel good hormones kick in
This is Michigan! What if it rains or snows?
I'll still be there with my rain jacket or snow boots. A second option is having a virtual session.
Will I break a sweat?
Most likely no. We will be doing slow to moderate walking. No strenuous exercise will be had, but your body and mind will thank you regardless.
Can I bring my pet on a leash or my kids in a stroller?
I'm game for trying it. I would love to have your pooch or kiddos with us. My only caveat is if having them detracts significantly from you being able to concentrate in the session.
Do you offer Christian coaching services?
I am a Christian and am involved at Woodside Bible Church. I create a judge-free zone, no matter your religion or background. If you desire a Christian coach I find it a joy to help clients apply their faith to their struggles.
How is coaching different from therapy?
Therapy is used to treat diagnosable mental illness and typically lasts longer than coaching. Therapy tends to focus on the past and traumatic wounds and events. Coaching tends to be shorter in duration and focuses on life, career, and relationship goals. Coaching clients must be ready for accountability, constructive feedback, and action steps to practice between sessions. Coaching should not be used to treat a mental health diagnosis. Any healing of old wounds should be done prior to coaching, or you are currently working with your therapist.
Do you specialize in any areas?
Self-development, relationship struggles, post-college life transitions, faith struggles, and finding a good job fit.
What is the financial investment?
You can purchase an individual session for $150 for 45 minutes. Or you can purchase a 6-session package for $850 which includes text and email support and accountability between sessions. The sessions will be billed via Stripe prior to appointment.
How do I schedule a session or session package with you?
If you are interested in learning more about my services, contact me and book a 15-minute phone conversation to see if will be a good fit and to answer any questions you have.
I look forward to meeting you!
